What's so special about these boxes?
With a Star Pics Box, there is a 1 in 20 chance of finding a hand-signed autographed card, which means the player sat down and signed this card, the autograph wasn't printed or signed on a sticker and stuck to the card.
The most coveted cards in these pacs were the Brett Farve, Troy Aikmen and Emmett Smith. Finding one of these cards could bump your change purse $120-$150. Finding a lesser coveted card could still get you a $5 to $100 value.
The 1991 Star Pics NFL Trading Card box can be purchased by the individual box or by the case on eBay or at Hobby shops. Know what to look for when purchasing these boxes since some sellers have found devious ways of cracking the pack beforehand and reselling with possible spoils already plucked. An example of this is seen in the video What's In The Box ? 1991 Star Pics Box Break Part 1, in which Jorden opens a box advertised as "factory sealed" only to find that the box had been opened and put back together again.
If you watch the video you can clearly see that the box was missing the shrinkwrap, the internal band was open, and bottom of the box had been tampered with. If that doesn't suck the wind out of your sails, nothing will. These little details lead us to believe that the seller had snuck a little peek to make sure they weren't selling a box with one of the valuable cards still inside.
